Panorama Views

When I first got my digital camera in 2001 I tried to create a panorama view and succeeded. Then in 2005 I realized that MS Digital Image Suite had a panorama stitching option. So I searched for those 2001 pictures and created the same view in a fraction of the original time with just about the same result.

Now I sometimes take pictures by resting my camera on a tripod or a fence or some solid ground and take a series of shots in a circle and then stitch them together.

Clicking on the small picture will open it to fit your browser window. Click on this picture again and it should open even larger so that you will have to scroll sideways to see it all.

Here are my views so far.

My Hillside Garden in February

After putting together the June panorama, I decided to try a winter one. So I went outside and took 5 pictures with the camera on my monopod and then stitched them together.

My Hillside Garden in June 2006

It is now February and cold outside, so looking nostalgically through my summer photos inspired me to create this panorama view of my hillside garden after a rain. I am so pleased with the result. Currently I am planning on what to plant where as currently I have just temporary plants in some sections.

Hillside Garden Transformation

I work an hour in the morning during the week on transforming my garden. Behind our house is a steep hill that is hard to mow and looks not very inviting. I have managed to transform the steepest part so far.

This view is 3 pictures stitched together for a width of 2127x685 pixels.

Clam Harbour 360° Panorama

Now that I know how to create the panoramas I became more adventurous and tried a 360° one. Due to the sun not all the pictures were the same shade. Also the program could not stitch the ocean sections together, so I created the panorama in sections and added the center ocean manually.

I learned from this picture that when you take 360° pictures on a sunny day you get a lot variations from picture to picture. So it is best to take it on a sunless day.

Oat Hill Lake in August 2005

On the opposite side of Oat Hill Lake there is a boardwalk over the lake and the railing of it made the perfect spot to rest the camera and take a number of shots to create this panorama.

It took 8 pictures to create this view that is 5281x631 pixels wide.

Rainbow Haven Provincial Park

Rainbow Haven Provincial Park is 15 minutes from where we live and we have to drive by the productions site for the TV series 'the trailer park boys' to get to the Atlantic Ocean. In this picture the damage from hurricane Juan, 2 years ago in 2003, is still quite visible.

6 pictures are stitched together to create this 3644x644 pixel view.
