Oat Hill Lake after Hurricane Juan

Lorne Avenue where I live wasn't too badly affected by the storm, but the woods on the other side of the lake suffered extensive damage.

As I only returned home one week after the storm, a lot of the clean up was already done by the time I was able to take pictures. They were all taken in the afternoon of October 6, 2003.

Lorne Avenue

Lorne Avenue is on the Western side of the lake below a small hill.

This is what I see from my front door, a fallen tree at the court (end of Lorne Ave)

All that is left from the mess is the debris left on the road

These trees weren't quite totally uprooted, but just ended up leaning to the side

From the 4 trees in this group only half of them survived

I was talking to this neighbour on Lorne Avenue who lost his 27 year, over 40 feet tall blue spruce tree to the storm. He was very pleased that I was able to take a picture of him with the treestump.

The face drawn on the tree stump expresses the owner's sentiments quite clearly.
