Envelope Template for 8.5x11" Paper

I reuse magazine and  calendar pages to make my envelope and sometimes the pages are not quite wide enough for my on the diagonal envelopes, so I had to create my own straight up template.

Even though the template is made for a 8.5x11" piece of paper there is some leeway here in that it will still work even if the paper is only 8x10.5". Center the template on the paper with the bottom of the template aligned with the bottom of the paper.

The left picture gives the dimensions of the envelope so that you can make your own from scratch and next to it the printable template. If you want to print the template make sure your printer is set to 100% print size. There might be some clipping, but ignore that and then once it is printed just extend the lines and cut the template out.

I usually print the templates on some light card stock. Also I discovered that I can use my wavy scissors to cut rounded corner on the top flap and on the bottom of the side flaps. That way there are no pointy corners that can get caught.
