Creating Fake HDR Photos

I like the look of HDR (High Dynamic Range) photos, but with my point and shoot camera I have not quite figured out how to alter the setting to create HDR photos. Recently I came across a tutorial to create fake HDR photos and they even gave the Photoshop action to make it really easy.

After looking at the photos I took during this morning's walk I thought that some would be perfect for this technique. This time of the year the photos are not very vibrant and needed a little help. I am quite pleased with the outcome of my experiments.

For comparison there is on the left the picture the way I took it right out of the camera and next to it the same picture with the HDR action applied.
