Artist Trading Cards

In 2002 I read about something called Artist Trading Cards. Trading cards that were created by artists in the dimensions of conventional trading cards. I found it intriguing and promptly forgot about it again. Then in January of 2003 I read an article about them again in a national newspaper. This time I did not forget about them. Subconsciously my mind has been creating cards and now they just flowed out me.

ARTIST TRADING CARDS are trading cards with a twist. Unlike their commercial cousins they are created by the artist and never sold only traded.

There is only one rule and that is that the cards should be the same size as the traditional collector cards: 2.5 inches wide and 3.5 inches tall (64mm x 89mm).

The cards can be created from just about any material and with any media you can think of. Keep in mind, however, that if you can't trade the card in person it will have to be sent by snail mail and if the card is too thick or heavy it might cost a lot more than regular mail or even break in shipment.

You should sign the back of the card. If you plan to make more than one card of the same design, number the card and state how many there are in the edition.

They were first created by a Swiss man, must be something about those Swiss. Maybe it is in the blood.
